KCCA moved a step closer to clinching Uganda Premier league after defeating Kirinya 2-0 away at the Mighty Arena to remain top of the standings with 52 points, four above Vipers as the league enters its final bend.

This was a big boost for Mike Mutebi as his side prepares to face title rivals Vipers in their next game on April 4 at Lugogo.

Kirinya who went into the match boasting a three-match winning run saw it ended in front of their home fans.

Elsewhere, Vipers gave their patron Lawrence Mulindwa the perfect birthday gift as they continued to pile more pressure on KCCA by defeating Maroons 2-0 at St Mary's Stadium.

The Venoms took the lead in controversial circumstances after Tom Masiko converted from the penalty spot in the 41st minute after the centre referee Ronald Madanda adjudged that Maroons' Bronson Nsubuga brought down Azizi Kayondo in the penalty area.

Maroons came out for the second half fired up but several missed goal scoring opportunities were punished skipper for the day Brian Nkuubi doubled Vipers lead in the 76th minute.

Maroons' misery was compounded when Pius Obuya missed a later penalty.

In Arua, Gaddaffi Gadinho and Ceaser Okhuti were both on target as Onduparaka defeated SC Villa 2-1 at Green Light stadium.

The defeat left record league champions Villa nervous about the possibility of relegation as they are only one place above the relegation zone.
