Nkumba turns attention to Algeria's GSP

The focus has to be on finishing the competition as high as the possibly can.

Africa Club Championships: Nkumba v GSP

Nkumba University was showed a gulf in class as they lost 3-1 (26-24, 25-27, 16-25, 22-25) to Kenya Prisons at the Africa Club Championships in Egypt.

The Ugandan side was off to a flying start narrowly taking the opening set to send an early warning shot. In the second they had a chance to make it 2-0 but good work saw Prisons take the second set.

It was smooth sailing for the Kenyans as they comprehensively took set three and four but Nkumba Coach Tonny Lakony believes his side did their best.

"Well, first we served them very well until later in the match. Clearly, our serve tormented them and they had to try so many things until the end," Lakony told New Vision.

"They also had to play to their maximum to overcome us which is a good sign about how far we have come," he said.

NUVC will still be disappointed that they could not pick up their second win but, if they can raise their game against GSP, they might still have a small chance to advance.

"We have to maintain our performance still against GSP and if we win and get 3 points, we will go to the calculation table. We are at a disadvantage being walked over but we can level the points if we beat them tomorrow. That's the plan," Lakony stated.

The focus has to be on finishing the competition as high as the possibly can after their dream of going to the quarterfinals may come down to mathematical calculations.
