WOMEN'S DAY

KAMPALA - Women in business in Uganda have been encouraged to be Innovative and stay clear of duplicating businesses if they are to succeed.  

The Chairperson Uganda Women Entrepreneurs Association Ltd ( UWEAL), Angela Bageine made the plea at the fifth edition of Lioness in Business award organized by the Uganda Women Entrepreneurs Association on Women's Day at the Skyz Hotel in Kampala. 

The women turned up in their large numbers at the red carpet affair to receive their accolade in the different categories of entrepreneurship, charity, media and even those under 30.

Some of the notable awardees of the night included Teresa Mbiire, who received the life time achievement award for her heroine journey in business and Suman Venkatesh the Indian Women Association in Uganda president who received the lioness in charity award for their selfless support to Uganda community over decades.

Most of the awardees are engaged in unique businesses that has fostered their growth in different development sectors.

Bageine encouraged more women to join entrepreneurship to be self-reliant and successful business people.

Maestro band entertained the awardees and guests of the night in a well-attended gala to celebrate women achievers.
