She is alleged to have taken the bribe to approve the physical plans for the construction of a fuel station

Fort Portal municipal council's physical planner, Olivia Bahwayo Busobozi, has been interdicted over bribery allegations.

According to the interdiction letter issued by Godfrey Bamanyisa the Town Clerk, it is alleged that Busobozi solicited a sh10m bribe from M/S Don Uganda Limited so as to approve the physical plans for the construction of a fuel station along Tibeyalirwa Road in the municipality.

"In accordance with Sections F-S Paragraph B of the Uganda Government Public Service Standing Orders 2010, I hereby regret to inform you that are interdicted from the exercise of powers and functions with effect from 1st March 2019," reads part of the letter.

It is further stated in the letter that Busobozi should immediately write a handover report and deliver it to Bamanyisa's office.

She is also directed to handover her office to the environment officer Gladys Natugonza Mirembe.

According to Bamanyisa, Busobozi will only receive half her salary and will not leave the country without permission from Mirembe her superior.

Efforts to get a comment from Busobozi about the interdiction were futile as repeated calls to her known phone number were neither received nor returned.

The officer in charge of the criminal investigations department at Fort Portal Central Police Station, Godliver Twinomugisha, said a complaint was lodged and investigations are on-going.

Busobozi has been barred from accessing her office until investigations are completed.
