MBARARA- Police in Mbarara on Monday evening arrested a 29 -year-old man identified as John Bosco Kwesiga born in Rukoni, Ntungamo.

Kwesiga  is said to have been fleecing the public of their money claiming that he is a  State House aide working with Lucy Nakyobe, the State House financial controller to give scholarships to students and pupils.

Police detectives and flying squad got a tip off from informers in Mbarara town and managed to arrest him when he had gone to Jay Bee International School in Mbarara.

Upon arrest he was found with a faked State House identity card which claims he holds the position of monitoring executive, a State House stamp from office of Nakyobe and faked lists of all schools in Mbarara and Kiruhura which he deceived that he would help provide with scholarships.

Police later took him to the office of the Resident District Commissioner (RDC), James Mwesigye to verify the documents he was holding, while therein, Mwesigye tasked him to explain how he has been doing this and where he printed the stamps from and how he forged Nakyobe's signature.

"I had not started getting money I think I was very unlucky because the first school, Jay Bee International school where I wanted to start distributing the forms is  where they arrested me  from, I had not collected money, I thought I was very creative" Kwesiga narrated.

When asked where he printed the State House stamp from, he told Police and the RDC, Mwesigye that it was at Nasser Road in Kampala for sh50, 000 and promised to take Police there.

"By the time you got this knowledge to know where they can print you a statehouse stamp it means you have a racket that you are working with because you knew that when you get the stamp for Nakyobe people would consider you as a genuine person" said Mwesigye.

Police detectives asked Mwesigye to write them a letter indicating that Kwesiga is not a State House aide which he agreed to do.

Mwesigye said upon arrest Kwesiga had a faked introductory letter from Nakyobe. "But what I can confirm this is a masquerader he has even said it himself that he was looking for survival and let the law take its course because a number of people have reported him to my office that's why we had to arrest him."

Kwesiga is to be charged with impersonation, uttering false documents and forgery. He is currently being detained at Mbarara Police Station.
