Parents of Deogloria Virtue of St. Kizito Primary School in Otuke district have been relieved from raising school fees for their daughter who excelled in the recently released Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE).
Ejang, 13 emerged the best student not only in her school at St. Kizito Primary and Otuke district but also in the entire northern region when she scored aggregate 4.
However her father Bosco Ogwang , a peasant and a teacher at Okum Seeds Secondary school was constrained with finances to enable her join Mt St. Mary's College Namagunga which was her first choice.
Akello Silvia the Woman Member of Parliament for Otuke district said Ejanj is among the many bright children in the northern region who are faced with the problem of lack of tuition with others seated at home.
"I applaud KK Traveler Coaches management who have come out to respond to this noble cause. This assistance might be looked at as mere drop in the ocean based on the number of those in need but it is milestone," said Akello .
This was during the handover of the dummy cheque of the tuition fees amounting to sh23m to cover the entire ordinary level at Mt St. Mary's College Namagunga by KK Traveler Coaches at their loading terminal at Arua Park in Kampala on Saturday.
Akello said the government, institutions and individuals with financial capacity should generously bail out pupils and students who are stuck at home due to lack of fees yet they can be important people in the future.
Ashad Taban, head of business at KK Coachers said they were touched by the story of this young and brilliant girl and had to postpone other programmes and sort out her fees for the entire ordinary level.
"This is part of our corporate social responsibility and God willing, we shall also consider her A' level and university. We have been sponsoring such needy students for a couple of years to enable them acquire a bright future," said Taban .
