Woman raped, strangled to death

Residents of Kasasa village, Ruteete sub-county in Kagadi district, discovered the body of one of their own that was raped and strangled to death overnight.

Alex Mugisha, the LC1 chairman of the area, said the woman was identified as 35-year-old Mary Tuhaise and it is suspected that she was gang-raped before being killed.

The body of the deceased was found dumped in the trading centre on Friday morning.

Mugisha blamed the incident on lawlessness in the area due to drug abuse especially marijuana.

The OC Kagadi Police Station, Julius Jingo, who visited the scene of the crime said Police has started investigations into the murder.
