KAMPALA - The Uganda National Examinations Board chief executive, Dan Odong has confirmed that 50-year-old Lira district local government speaker, George Rashid Opio qualifies for a UCE certificate after scoring aggregate 66 in the recently released senior four results.

"Much as his score is the very minimum, Division 4, he will still receive a certificate from UNEB. He also qualifies for Senior five." Odong told New Vision.

Many made fun of the Lira district local government speaker's results, however, he was very excited upon his achievement.

Speaking to the New Vision shortly after the release of UCE results Thursday Evening, Opio who began by laughing at the top of his voice said he has already survived being taken to court over inadequate academic papers since the O'level certificate is paramount.

"I sat O'level examinations because I never wanted to be arrested for forging academic documents or being thrown out of the office due to lack of papers," Opio noted.

Opio, who sat for UCE last year, from Lira town hall at Lango college with Index Number U235/039, scored C8 in English, F9 in CRE, F9 in Geography, C5 in Lango language, F9 in Mathematics, P8 in Agriculture, F9 in Physics, F9 in Chemistry, F9 in Biology and F9 in Commerce.

Opio who is also the area councilor representing Ojwina division to Lira district local government advised fellow politicians to emulate him and go back to school.

Nonetheless the school director, Pastor Edison Nyanzi congratulated Lutaaya upon passing the exams because he barely had time to study.
