The Silverbacks Chumash Lacrosse Challenge is quite the ultimate answer to the technical gaps left in the local game.

Young players, in particular, tend to struggle in coping with the technical aspects that come with the normal format of the game.

The beauty about this version is that it forces the players into a thinking game, where they have to score in the tiny goal which is in the middle of the playing field.

Interestingly, the nature of the goal and the tight angle makes accurate shooting a critical requirement.

Meanwhile, Keith Lubangakene and Sam Ochan scored two goals apiece in the main version to defeat the U19 boys' team 7-6 in what was a close affair.

For the U19 girls' team, the event is another platform to prepare for this year's world championships in Canada.

Kawempe Canons and Luzira NileCrocs making their debut at the event held at MUBS, Nakawa, it is another revelation of progress in breaking new ground by the federation.

"We can comfortably report that this is already a successful season as there is significant growth and expansion of the game to different communities," said Liberty Twesiime, event coordinator.

High Court Judge Duncan Gaswaga endorsed the tournament which is another programme of the grass root development strategy.
