Latigo survives 4th road accident

In 2009 Prof. Latigo survived an accident in Bweyale trading center in Kiryandongo district. His driver then, Sam Tabu Oyenya and a woman identified as Innocent Awor died on spot.

KITGUM - Professor Morris Ogenga Latigo, the Agago North County MP has said he is fine after being involved in a motor accident in Kitgum district.

Ogenga told the New Vision that they got involved in an accident on Wednesday at around 3:30pm at Adak village in Lumule, Kitgum while he was traveling to Kalongo Town council in his constituency.

"My driver lost control and the vehicle veered off the road and overturned," he said.

Ogenga added that he and his driver did not sustain any injury, but his vehicle got damaged.

He was being driven in his black Toyota Harrier, registration number UBC 035A by his driver, Cipriano Humphrey Menya, 21, a resident of Kalongo in Agago district, when the accident occurred.

The Aswa River Region Police spokesperson, Patrick Jimmy Okema, said the legislator got involved in minor accident.

He added that the accident was recorded on case file Ref: TSD 07/23/01/2019 at Kitgum Central Police Station.

Ogenga's wrecked car is parked at Kitgum Central Police Station.

This is the fourth road accident Prof. Latigo has suffered since 2009. On October 11, 2009 Prof. Latigo survived an accident in Bweyale trading center in Kiryandongo district, when his Land Cruiser vehicle registration number UG 0173H collided head-on with a bus belonging to Mewa bus company.

His driver then, Sam Tabu Oyenya and a woman identified as Innocent Awor died on spot.

In January 2011, Prof. Latigo was involved in another motor accident on the same Kampala-Gulu Highway in Kiryandongo, when his vehicle knocked dead a pedal cyclist.

On January 30, 2018, the lawmaker was involved in another accident after his vehicle, registration number UAV 269K rammed into a numberless trailer parked along the Kampala highway in Kakooge in Luwero district.
