Lukanga favourites to win National Boxing Championship

Coach Muhamad Khalili of East Coast Boxing Club is impressed with the quality of boxers who have qualified for the National Open Boxing finals.

 “I think this is going to be the most competitive finals in so many years,” Khalili said.
 
Khalili added that the technical desk should consider summoning some of the players who lost in the quarter and semi-final.
 
Meanwhile, Lukanga Boxing Club is destined to lift this year’s National Open Boxing Championship that ends next Sunday. This is after they qualified more boxers to the finals than any other club.
 
The overall winner of this year’s championship will take home a TVS bike besides several prizes that await individual winners.
 
In the finals so far, Disan Mubiru of Lukanga will face Derick Mubiru of COBAP in the bantamweight category; Jonathan Kyobe of Lukanga will take on Jaffa Onen of East Coast in the Lightweight category.
 
David Kayemba, Ibrahim Nsubuga, Patrick Ssozi are the other boxers from Lukanga that had qualified for the finals.
 
Over thirty clubs including Zebra, Lukanga, UPDF, Police and defending champions KCCA participated in the event co-sponsored by UNAIDS, Uganda Aids Commission, Aids Information Centre, Street Financing and Uganda Blood Transfusion Service.
