200 distinguished Ugandans are expected to receive medals for their contribution to the development of the country

Tucked inside the far-end side of Tororo district is Muwafu Primary School in West Budama constituency.

On January 26, the playground of Muwafu Primary School will be a land of activity as Uganda celebrates the 33rdNational Resistance Movement (NRM) Day.

"Cabinet noted that the celebrations marking the 33rd NRA/NRM Victory Day Anniversary will take place on Saturday, January 26, at Muwafu Primary School Grounds in Nabuyoga Sub County, West Budama South Constituency - Tororo District," Col. Shaban Bantariza, the deputy government spokesperson, said in a statement issued on Tuesday.

The celebrations will be organised under the theme, "A moment of glory that set a new chapter for Unity, Peace, and prosperity in Uganda".

President Yoweri Museveni, who led the Luwero triangle bush war (1981-86), will preside over the celebrations, where over 200 distinguished Ugandans are expected to receive medals for their contribution to the development of the country.

The NRA, a military wing of the NRM, captured power on Janaury 26, 1986, from the Tito Okello Lutwa military government, which had overthrown Dr. Milton Obote's government.
