KAMPALA - Nyinarukundo Jean, 32, on Friday afternoon stormed Mama Fina's home in Bulenga, Wakiso district claiming that she knows who killed her (Mama Fina) husband, late Maj. Muhammed Kiggundu.

She said her life in danger and that they will eventually kill her, whether she talks or keeps quiet.

"I would rather die when I have told the truth than dying with guilty," Nyinarukundo said adding: "I have tried to inform the police and also reported the case to Nabweru Police Station but I was not helped and I thought the only way to let the country know the truth was to tell Mama Fina because late Maj. Kiggundu was her husband.

Nyinarukundo said her husband John Zimula is part of the group that has been killing sheikhs in Uganda.

She named some of the people in the group including Meddy Musitwa who is being held at Makindye Barracks and another she referred to as Baker.

Nyinarukundo added that the three murdered Maj. Kiggundu, Sheikh Abdulkari Muwaya and Sheikh Hassan Kirya.

"All the meetings they held to plan how to kill all these sheiks were in our home in Nabweru and I even used to cook for them. All the guns they used were kept in our house and I saw all of that happen," she noted.

She added that their group has a spy called Katerega and that he is the one who used to give them information on the sheikhs' whereabouts.

Nyinarukundo narrated to Mama Fina how her husband was killed. "John Zimula my husband was the one who first pulled the trigger and then Captain Musitwa who shot Maj. Kiggundu in the back," she said.

After Maj. Kiggundu's murder, Nyinarukundo claims that she went and told the former Inspector General of Police Gen. Kale Kayihura but he told her to keep quiet.

She showed Mama Fina threatening messages from her husband who wrote that he will kill Nyinarukundo and Mama Fina. She also showed her a copy of the people who they plan to kill and police references where she claims to have reported the case against her husband.

However, Nyinarukundo was arrested and she is being held at Wakiso Police Station.

Kampala Metropolitan Spokesperson Emilian Kayima confirmed that Nyinarukundo is in their custody and that they first want to find out whether she is mentally stable.
