The former Commandant Police Training School Kabalye in Masindi district, Commissioner of Police Fred Nabongo is dead. Nabongo died at Kiruddu Hospital in Makindye division, on Friday evening.

The Uganda Police tweeted confirming his death early this morning.

"Former Commandant PTS Masindi and CP/ HRD Rtd CP Nabongo Fred is dead. He died at Kirudu Hospital. May his Soul Rest in Peace," read a tweet on the police twitter account.

Nabongo retired in 2010.

Nabongo also served as Commissioner of Police for Human Resource Development and also Commissioner in charge of non-human resource.

He was among the 27 senior officers Gen. Kayihura suspended in 2007 to allow Police Professional Standards Unit to investigate professional misconduct and criminal charges against them.

Nabongo, was interdicted for reportedly opposing a move by the IGP, to send a group of Police officers for a course at the National Leadership Training Institute in Kyankwanzi.

A year later, he was reinstated after his interdiction was lifted.
