CONFIRMATION  BISHOP JESUS

The Anglican bishop of the Diocese of Northern Uganda, Rev. Johnson Gakumba, has confirmed 160 Christians in as the diocese starts the New Year 2019.

The Tuesday confirmation service took place from 10:00AM at Pece-Pawel Church of Uganda sub-parish, within Christ Parish under Christ Church Urban Archdeaconry in Gulu municipality.

Gakumba challenged the newly-confirmed Christians to stand firm in their faith in God. He said they will be more prone to attacks by Satan or the devil throughout their daily lives with Christ.

The confirmed Christians range from the ages of 14-45. The majority of them were  youth falling below the age of 17.

The bishop took the candidates through the recitation exercise of God's ten (10) Commandments as a prerequisite during such a Confirmation service, part of the Christian sacrament after baptism.

The candidates had to spontaneously confess to God as the bishop randomly asked them to pronounce whatever Sins one could have committed since they had been baptised.

Most of the candidates, especially confessed having committed the sins of theft, telling lies and having no respect for their parents among others as opposed to God's 10 commandments.

Gakumba urged the adult confirmed Christians and many others living with unmarried wives to stop cohabiting and take their marriages before God as an important sacrament and to get blessings for God.

The bishop during the Service also reminded the Christians to start preparations towards the annual prayer to mark the St. Janani Luwum Day martyrdom at Mucwini Wii-gweng in Kitgum diocese on February 16.

Gakumba similarly appealed to the Christians under the Diocese of Northern Uganda to make arrangements through cash contributions to welcome and bid farewell to the Archbishop of the Province of the Church of Uganda, Most Rev. Stanley Ntagali as he will be saying bye to the Christians in DNU on June 13, 2019.

He reflected that cash worth sh16m= during the time when Archbishop Henry Luke Orombi retired and succeeded by bishop Ntagali.
