Love affair suspected in cop's murder

The deceased had often complained about the manner in which the accused was frequently making phone calls to his wife during night hours and suspected they could be having a love affair.

The Police in Namayingo district  are holding one of their own for shooting dead a fellow police officer.  

The accused James Bukenya a police officer attached to Lolwe islands police post Lolwe sub county Namayingo district  reportedly shot dead a fellow police officer,Simon Peter Bukenya who had come to the station demanding to meet the officer in charge of the police post on Thursday.

According to a police officer who was also on duty, but preferred anonymity said the deceased arrived at the police station at around 11:00pm demanding to have audience with the officer in charge of the police post, but Bukenya pulled out a gun from the counter before shooting him thrice on the abdomen.  

 

The deceased also a police officer at Lolwe police post died instantly. 

The deceased had often complained about the manner in which the accused was frequently making phone calls to his wife during night hours and suspected they could be having a love affair.  

The deputy resident district commissioner Namayingo,Majid Dhikusoka, said the body of the deceased was taken to Bugiri Hospital for a post mortem report.  EDhikusoka said efforts are underway to establish the exact cause as to why the accused could have opened fire on a fellow police officer serving at the same duty station.

"We as leaders are wondering Bukenya shot dead a police officer who is working at the same police station with him," he said. 

The police spokesman Busoga east, James Mubi, said the accused is to soon appear before court answer charges of murder.
