Two suspected Bodaboda robbers hacked, set a blaze

MBARARA - Angry residents and boda boda riders of Nyarubanga village in Mbarara municipality on Friday hacked to death two suspected boda boda rubbers before they set them ablaze.

Samson Kasasira, the Rwizi region Police spokesperson confirmed the incident. However, he noted that they have not yet identified the victims because their bodies were burnt beyond recognition.

He added that they have not yet received any person claiming the bodies from the mortuary at Mbarara regional referral hospital.

“They were burnt from different farms. We have been told that the duo had stolen a boda boda from one of the stages in Kakika but cyclists managed to chase them and they killed and burnt them,” Kasasira.

 
Residents told noted that Nyarubanga has turned into a death trap especially during evening and late in the night. Benon Kamukama, one of the residents told us that he has fallen victim twice to the robbers.

“One time I was going home at around 8:00pm, I found a person with a gun and he stopped me but good enough, he did not beat me. He took my shs2000, and I was set free,” said Kamukama.

He added, “We call upon the Police, to extend its patrols to this area during the festive season, otherwise our lives are in dange.r”

Kasasira noted that the residents have refused to tell Police what transpired and called upon the public to always share information with Police so that wrong doers can be eliminated.
