The Omusinga of Rwenzururu Kingdom Charles Wesley Mumbere is in peace talks with the Central Government in order to end conflicts within his kingdom.

This revelation was made by the Attorney General of the kingdom Alfred Makasi, as he accompanied Mumbere to the International Crimes Division Court in Kololo, Kampala in honour of his bail that was granted to him by Jinja High Court.

Makasi told journalists that the acquittal or conviction of the king and his subjects over the pending criminal charges that stem from the 2016 Kasese killings will not reclaim the peace and glory of the Rwenzururu kingdom.

He therefore, confirmed that talks between the kingdom leaders headed by the king himself and the government are already in advanced stages and the public should wait for a positive outcome.

Mumbere appeared before Anti-Corruption Court Registrar Susan Kanyange who extended his bail and ordered him to report back to Court on 8th/January 2018.

Mumbere and 112 of his subjects, who are on remand at Luzira and Kirinya prisons, are awaiting trial before the International Crimes Division of the High Court on charges of murder, terrorism, robbery and malicious damage to property allegedly committed in April 2016 at the Rwenzururu palace.
