Nov 29, 2018

The championship attracted 250 fighters from Soroti, Mbale, Jinja, Katakwi, Kumi Bukedea, Iganga, Kumi, Kaberamaido, Pallisa and Ngora.

There was an air of excitement in Serere district on Saturday as fans continuously watched kickboxers pummel each other with kicks and punches in a talent search championship.

This was during the second edition of Eastern Uganda Kick-boxing talent search organised by leading female kickboxer Patricia Apolot at Olio Primary School in Serere district.

The championship attracted 250 fighters from Soroti, Mbale, Jinja, Katakwi, Kumi Bukedea, Iganga, Kumi, Kaberamaido, Pallisa and Ngora.

"We are optimistic that this league will help us ignite more competition locally. It will also help us expose more local talent," said Uganda Kickboxing Federation president Patrick Luyonza.

Due to limited competitions, most boxers rely on a few competitions like the National Opens, Cadets and junior championship.
