UBF president Moses Muhangi said that campaign will start with training of stakeholders including coaches, club officials, referees, athletes and games teachers.

The Aids Information centre, Uganda Aids Commission and Infectious Diseases Institute Makerere have partnered with Uganda Boxing Federation (UBF) to fight the spread of HIV/AIDS.

UBF president Moses Muhanji said that campaign will start with training of stakeholders including coaches, club officials, referees, athletes and games teachers.

"This partnership will help us educate our boxers to live a healthy life and those who are affected will receive treatment in time," Muhangi said.

The partners gave punching bags and gloves that will be given to boxing clubs.

"We want to use boxing as a mobilising tool to see that we fight HIV in sports," Karusa Kiragu the UNAID Executive Director said.

"We are taking this fight to schools and sports disciplines including rugby and football to sensitize people," Kiragu said.
