KAMPALA - It is no longer a question of who would win the league but what colours Wananchi girls would wear to collect the title, one of the fans remarked after Wananchi's last game of the season at the weekend.

That is how a mystery it has become to stop Wananchi.

For years now there is no competition for the girls who continue to routinely dominate the women's league, no one comes close! They have won the league in commanding fashion since 2015 no one can live with this.

They have been branded the alien that keeps evolving in the game and it is interesting to know how they manage to remain motivated for such a long period of time.

"We live for the game and we always keep our expectations high, we want to be better every year. There is a deliberate effort to groom young players and this maintains our pool" said Teddy Achiro captain of Wananchi.

Interestingly their winning trend shows that in some occasions they seal off the title even before the final round of the season starts. This year they only lost once in the league.

Conversely Doreen Mbabazi has been such an imposing figure for the champions and her peak has gone high up in the campaign.

Consistency is a key component that defines Mbabazi's game from being top scorer last season to achieving the same feat this campaign with an overwhelming 76 goals.

"She's a monster on the side, her technique is exceptional and for me we have not had such a gifted player on the local scene in a while" Achiro adds.

Meanwhile Muder Consy Peace Anyango and Doreen Mbabazi scored one goal apiece in the 3-2 triumph over Deliverance Church as the season ended on Sunday at the Lugogo National Hockey Stadium.
