KAMPALA - The incoming cultural counsellor of the embassy of  Islamic Republic of Iran to Uganda, Muhammed Reza Ghezelsofla has hailed the warm relations between Uganda and Iran, describing it as key to the socio-economic transformation of both countries.

Ghezelsofla, who presided over the sports and cultural gala of Isamu Foundations Schools (IFS) at Namasuba a city suburb over the weekend, said that Iran will continue to promote cultural and educational ties between the two countries.
Ghezello made the remarks during the sports, music, dance and drama competitions at IFS.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran will continue with its major role to promote education, culture, and tourism, which is a gesture of economic transformation.

So far Iran has financed Uganda to set up educational institutions which promote culture and tourism," Ghezelsofla said.

During the tour of the Schools, Ghezelsofla praised the school plays, which he said helped many orphans who cannot afford school fees, yet they also need education.

"Uganda is one of the countries with many orphaned children who need education.  I appreciate the management of IFS for extending free education to some of the orphans," Ghezelsofla explained.

"Depending on the need and the affordability from my country, I am still examining the possibility where my country can extend help to the needy and orphaned children in Uganda, "Ghezelsofla said.

"Uganda has benefitted from the various scholarships extended by the Islamic Republic of Iran and these have been crucial in building the country's human resource."

Ghezello said: "Uganda has been described as the friendliest country worldwide, which is measured or characterized in the manner where friendliness is determined by how expatriates, investors and tourists among others are welcomed or received."

The director of Isamu Foundations Schools Haji Zimuli Muzamiru urged parents to encourage their children to develop their talent by allowing them participate in school co-curricular activities.

Muzamiru said many Ugandans have ridden on their talent to become successful.

"Many people in the world today are successful and have been famous because of their talent. It is important for you to support children, promote them as they may be on their ways to success," Muzamiru said.
