Mbale golf club captain Paul Ekiring called on Mbale golf club members to get active in sports activities at the club.
"Do not disappear from the club meetings and other activities and only wait to appear during tournaments because the club needs your advice and impact to move on,''said Ekiring.
Ekiring revealed that the club board has drawn up a plan to help club expand from a 9 hole to 13 holes in the next four months.
Club president Francis Nagimesi called on more golfers from the Eastern region to attend each other's tournaments in large numbers.
Tororo golf club's head coach Jerome Ogola must have wondered how he came to mentor his challenger as this time surrendered to a 6-5 loss to his student at Tororo club, John Dambio who won the Eastern Golf open after both players had returned to a gross total score of 167 during Sunday's pulsating golf play at Mbale Golf club.
Both players had settled for 5 pars and two birdies over two days of play after 36 holes as sudden death play at the 18th hole decided for the winner.
"It is sad that I have lost to my very own student but I am happy to see that it's Tororo club that has dominated the top two slots," said Ogola.
"The course was challenging especially with the greens where all holes where fixed at very difficult angles but all in all I glad that I managed to win today thanks to my coach feeling nervous whenever he putted first. I now want to challenge more local golf opens so that I can improve on my handicap," said the winner.
Over 40 golfers from Tororo, Soroti, Jinja,Tooro and the hosts from Mbale golf clubs participated in the two day tournament.
