Rubanda Police investigate 85-year-old man's murder

Police in Rubanda district are investigating circumstances under which 85-year-old man was murdered. According to Elly Maate, the Kigezi Police Spokesperson, one Edward Banagyente of Kashara village, Kigyeyo ward Rubanda town council in Rubanda district was allegedly murdered from his bedroom by unknown assailants.

"The incident happened on the night of November 1 when the assailants entered through the window and cut him thrice on the head.

One of his grandchildren realised the incident on the morning of November 2 on his way to school.  He  peeped through the window and saw his grandfather lying in a pool of blood on his bed and ran to inform his parents," said Maate.

Banagyente  was a farmer and local money lender.

"He has sold his cow of recent which we suspect could be the reason for the attack. Anybody with information that can lead Police to the perpetrators can volunteer it so that the criminals are brought to book and charged accordingly," said Maate.
