Women and girls were also urged to frequently test for various cancers

The primary healthcare state minister, Joyce Moriku, has urged girls below the age of 18 to abstain from sex as a measure against catching cervical cancer.

Moriku said that engaging in sex exposes girls to risks such as early pregnancy and because of this, they are prone to developing cervical cancer.

She also urged women and girls to frequently test for various cancers, especially breast and cervical, because early detection eases the fight against cancer.

Moriku made the remarks on Saturday while presiding over the Push Until Something Happens Ministries' charity walk from Mulago Cancer Institute to Old Kampala Secondary School, to create awareness against breast and cervical cancer.
