Handball league returns Saturday

The three games card will see Mukono Lions take on Prisons Spears, Makerere Bulls taking on UPDF, while Ndejje University host Kyengeza.

 
The second round of the national handball league starts on Saturday with three games on card.
 
The chairman Rules and Referees Committee of the handball federation Francis Mujjuzi confirmed the development during a press briefing at Uganda Olympic Committee in Lugogo stadium.
 
The three games card will see Mukono Lions take on Prisons Spears, Makerere Bulls taking on UPDF, while Ndejje University host Kyengeza with all games lined up in Bombo barracks ground.
 
Meanwhile, the federation has also set November, 17 to 18 as dates for the Second edition of the Harriet Apako memorial tournament in Soroti.
 
"We agreed to have this tournament annually as a way of inspiring the young ones from Apako's home area to join the sport and that is why we are taking the second edition to Soroti," UHF secretary Saudha Babirye.
 
Harriet Apako, a former She Cranes centre player started her sports career as a handball player at the age of 15 at Railways Handball Club in the 1990s.
 
She then played at the national level and the joined National Insurance Netball Club (NIC) before moving to Police netball and handball club until when she passed on in 2016.
