Aziz Damani's aura of invincibility remains even after losing to Pioneer Saturday at Entebbe oval, but the latter's fearless approach could make them unstoppable this season in the Jazz Safari National Women's league.

Bookmakers had tipped Olila High School and Aziz Damani Masaka SS as overwhelming favourites to win the 50 overs title.

However, Pioneer have shown that Damani can be beaten and indeed won by 14 runs.

Pioneer who last won the league in 2015 are enjoying a quiet revival and there is a strong belief that the results are starting to show.

"The break from winning major titles has been so long, we are a big club and this should be backed by trophies. Everyone at the club is now focused on bringing back those glorious days" said Barbra Mukankusi, captain of the team.

But can the spirited Pioneer who have not changed much in the set up last the distance after their important win over Damani?

"The motivation remains high and certainly we are not stopping. The victory on Saturday means that we a strong side that can win the trophy" Mukankusi believes. They lead the standings with six points ahed of second placed Damani.

The skipper was exceptional with a match winning performance scoring 28 from 45 balls when Pioneer reached 152 all out courtesy of Immaculate Nakisuyi's 4 wicket haul.

Damani unsuccessfully chased the game as they were restricted to 138 all out with Brenda Nabisalu claiming 4 wickets.

Meanwhile defending champions Jinja SS have since lost the touch of champions. Olila beat them by 8 wickets courtesy of Mary Apio and Kevin Amuge's crisp perfomances with the ball. The pair took 4 and 3 wickets respectively at the Jinja oval encounter.
