On October 9th 2018, Uganda joined the rest of the world to celebrate World Postal day under the theme:"THE POST-DELIVERING GOOD TO THE WORLD".

The postal sub-sector, which comprises letter post, parcel and courier services - is of high importance for socio­economic development and delivery of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

In the current digital age, the Postal Sub sector has positioned itself as a major player in global e-commerce. As the use of internet services increases, so does the need to transact online. 

According to the Director General  (DG) of the Universal Postal  Union (UPU) Mr Bishar A Hussein, customers choose to do business with the Post based on its record of accomplishment of being trustworthy, reliable and affordable. He adds that small and medium-sized businesses seeking to expand into international markets can turn to the Post as an easy and affordable channel for export.

The Postal Sector in Uganda is serviced by twenty-two operators including Uganda Post Limited (UPL) -popularly known as Posta Uganda as the Designated National Postal Operator. These operators have been licensed by UCC to offer domestic, regional and international services.

UCC has ensured existence of a conducive regulatory environment that has promoted investment in  the Postal Industry. UCC has further directly invested in the expansion of the postal network for the government owned UPL through supporting  the refurbishment and provision  of equipment to selected postal offices countrywide.
