City Oilers 77 Betway Power 68

For over four consecutive years, it remains extremely hard for local teams to unlock what is now the mystery of defeating the mighty City Oilers.

Whenever it matters most, they have always stepped up to frustrate their opponents at the biggest level of the National Basketball League playoffs.

This season, the moneyed giants have displayed a rare act of resilience especially in the latter and crucial stages of the competition.

In the semifinals they came from behind to surpress what lloked like a spirited KIU side who as a matter of fact wanted to make amends having lost in the previous final against the Oilers who have won four in a row.

Straight into the final the Oilers were dealt a blow when a revitalized Betway Power impressed to clinch game one.

Known to withstand pressure, Jimmy Enabu and Co have managed to come from a deficit and now lead the best-of-seven-series 2-1 after an emphatic 77-68 victory in game three Sunday at the Lugogo Indoor Stadium.

James Okello nailed a team high 15 points in what was a balanced scoring line from Oilers. Stephen Umony and Josh Johnson had 14 points apiece as the defending champions took a major step in their pursuit for a fifth title in a row.

Certainly Betway Power skipper Joseph Ikong is carrying the weight of the team on his shoulders. He sunk a game best 17 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assist, leading his side in all aspects.

The two sides meet again in game four wednesday in the Lugogo Indoor Stadium.
