The chairman of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party in Kagadi district, Ayebale Kanyarutoke has joined former party President Gen Mugisha Muntu's recently formed group named the New Formation.

Kanyarutoke made the announcement on Thursday in an interview with the press in Kagadi town, Kagadi district.

The Kagadi FDC chairman said the New Formation is not about weakening the FDC party but starting a new struggle to change government.

"We want to change government because FDC has tried several times  but has been unsuccessful so this is an alternative," said Kanyarutoke.

Kanyarutoke is optimistic that the New Formation will break the monopoly in Uganda's politics which is being dominated by President Yoweri Museveni and Dr. Kiiza Besigye who has turned into a serial loser in presidential elections.

Recently, former FDC party President, Gen. Mugisha Muntu unveiled a new political group, the New Formation.

Muntu while addressing the press at Hotel Africana, said the New Formation was necessary after a nationwide consultation that concluded that there was need for separation from FDC due to internal differences.

Gen Muntu said while the FDC party chooses defiance as a means of fighting against the government in power, the New Formation is a strong believer in organisation and diplomacy as a means of assuming power.
