Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC opened their title defence with a hard fought 1-0 win over debutants Ndejje University.

Davis Kasirye came to Vipers's rescue with the only goal of the game in the 90th minute at the newly refurbished St Mary’s stadium in Kitende.

Kasirye came in as a second half substitute replacing Frank Tumwesigye to bag all three points for vipers.
