The Democratic Party has honoured the late Christine Namiiro Kizito, the fallen widow of former party president general, John Ssebaana Kizito, for her contribution to the party and to democratic governance in the country.

Namiiro died in London in the United Kingdom recently and her burial is set for Tuesday afternoon.

Addressing journalists during the weekly party press conference at the party headquarters at City House in Kampala on Tuesday, the party spokesperson Kenneth Paul Kakande, praised Namiiro as a force behind Ssebaana's success.

He added that she supported the party in the background but she was a strong force who pushed the party agenda with all her heart.

Kakande said deepest sympathies to the family on behalf of DP and assured the family of continued support.

Ssebaana passed away in July 2017 in Kampala after suffering a stroke.

He married Namiiro, a former nursery school teacher, in 1965. She has since 2007 lived in London with their daughter.
