Nkumba hopes Hermes Sports Limited will improve volleyball

The Nkumba University vice chancellor Wilson Muyinda has hailed Hermes Sports Limited for the efforts they have made to promote volleyball at the university.

Speaking after a press conference held at Nkumba University last week where the University and Hermes Sports Limited signed a Memorandum of Understanding, Muyinda said the university has moved miles in volleyball because of the efforts Hermes Sports Limited have put in to develop the sport and creating a professional club.

"Am happy to inform the public that Hermes will take over the management of our ladies volleyball team following the memorandum of understanding we have signed. We now expect professionalism and more partnerships," Muyinda told the New Vision.

"I want us to take this as a joint movement where Hermes and Nkumba will feed each other in delivering good volleyball results and also await for other opportunities in other sports discipline."

Hermes Sports Limited is a company that is a year old in Uganda and is seeking to change sports management.

However, the company has for now focused on volleyball. The Nkumba university volleyball head coach Tonny Lakony has said  the understanding between the university and Hermes will also provide employment opportunities for players who have finished school.
