Return Leg:  Ivory Coast v Uganda (in Abidjan)

ENTEBBE - Uganda's national beach soccer coach, Salim Muwonge, says he is working on a better attacking approach that will help his side to beat Ivory Coast in continental beace football.

The Sand Cranes will travel to Abidjan for next Friday's return leg in the 2018 Africa Beach Soccer Cup of Nations Qualifiers. The Ugandans lost 3-1 to the west Africans in the first leg last Sunday.

Meanwhile, they beat Buganda Royal Institute 5-3 in a preparatory match at Lido beach in Entebbe.

"We are trying to test our attacking formations that can produce more goals," said Muwonge.

"It has worked for us in the buildup. It is what we are opting for since we have to change the score away in Abidjan next week."

Assistant captain Somoka Roch agrees, saying the warm-up game has helped them improve their scoring power.

"We have tested our scoring abilities during the buildup. We hope by next week we will be ready to turn the score."

The winner between Uganda and Ivory Coast across the two legs will progress to the finals due in Cairo, Egypt from December 9 until December 14.

This will be the second edition of the competition on the continent since the current name was adopted in 2016. Previously, the tournmant was called CAF Beach Soccer Championship.

Senegal are the defending champions.

The tournament will act as a qualification tournament for African teams to the 2019 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup.

Uganda last took part in the qualifiers in 2015, when Sand Cranes were eliminated by Ghana's Black Sharks.
