Nakalembe has had a fairly good season
Irene Nakalembe returns from Ghana with enough motivation after returning 151 gross over 36 holes and finishing second in the Ghana Ladies Open at the Achimota Golf Club in Ghana on Sunday.
After leading Uganda to a fourth place finish out of 18 countries at the 14th edition of the All Africa Challenge trophy in the same country, Nakalembe was good for second behind Kenya's Josephine Ainley who returned 145, six strokes ahead, in the two-day event.
"I struggled on day-one but did very well on the second; I aggressively looked for a better score on the last day. My second place is a good motivator ahead of the Uganda Ladies Open; it is very helpful," Nakalembe stated.
Despite tying in second place with Zimbabwe's Danielle Bekker and Tanzania's Hawa Wanyeche, Nakalembe produced the best gross score on the day (71) to edge her opponents to second.
Other Tanzanians Angel Eaton Robinson and Iddi Hussein Madiina tied in fourth place having carded 153 gross each in the annual tournament that attracted 120 golfers from Ghana and other African countries.
Nakalembe has had a fairly good season so far having won the Entebbe and Uganda Golf Club Ladies Opens and will next week be gunning for her maiden Uganda Ladies Open Championship at her home club in Entebbe.
