Nkumba University Volleyball Club (NVCU) ladies team have enjoyed a cruise in the first round of the National Volleyball League.

The Entebbe-based side have won eight of their nine games and are top of the Serie A women's table.

Nkumba have surpassed top-flight teams such as Vision Volleyball Club (VVC), Sport-s Volleyball Club and Ndejje University Volleyball Club for the past one year.

They won the 2017 league title and sealed the Genocide Memorial Tournament with a first ever trophy from Rwanda, where they made their second appearance.

They have only lost four games this year in all competitions and are well placed to reign supreme this year.

Nkumba have lost to Ndejje, UCU, APR (Rw) and VVC in NSSF KAVC International (final), National League (round one), Genocide tournament (groups) and Aporu Memorial tourney (semifinal), respectively.

But they have also registered wins against the same teams.

With the help of their key players Flavia Nandawula, Astreede Agaba, Grace Akirol, Doreen Akiteng and Sidat Nungi, Nkumba's performance has greatly been estimated to their dream of turning semi-professional.

Nkumba have four national league titles and three national championship titles.
