The national beach soccer team, the Sand Cranes have intensified their preparations ahead of their AFCON 2018 Beach Soccer qualifiers this weekend. The Sand Cranes host Ivory Coast in the first leg of the final round this Sunday at Spennah Beach, Entebbe.

Uganda will travel for the return leg on September 21 in Abidjan. The winner after the two legs, qualifies for the finals scheduled for December in Cairo, Egypt.
The 2018 Africa Beach Soccer Cup of Nations will be the second edition of the Africa Beach Soccer Cup of Nations since the current name was adopted in 2016. Previously beach soccer tournaments organised by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) were known as the CAF Beach Soccer Championship. Senegal are the defending champions.
