Three people drown in Lake Mutanda

Elly Maate, the Kigezi Police Spokesperson identified the deceased as Pafura Musuhuke of Mwaro village Karambi sub-county and Janet Ntakirutimana of Kigoma village Gisorora parish Nyakabande sub-county.

Three people have drowned in Lake Mutanda Kisoro district, South Western Uganda. According to Police, two of the victims died in the water whereas the third one managed to swim and came out.

Elly Maate, the Kigezi Police Spokesperson identified the deceased as Pafura  Musuhuke 57 years of Mwaro village Karambi sub-county  and Janet Ntakirutimana 18 years of Kigoma village Gisorora parish Nyakabande sub-county.

He said the incident happened on September 1, at around 1:00pm at Kaboko landing site. He added that the inquiries underway.

They were traveling using a canoe being controlled by Pafura and due to much wind that caused a lot of water waves, the boat capsized and the two died instantly but surfaced immediately and were retrieved," said Maate.

He added that the deceased's bodies were taken to Kisoro hospital mortuary for postmortem.
