Tornado Bee: a shadow of its former self

Sep 03, 2018

Their fall in the pecking order has partly been because of the arrival of the moneyed Aziz Damani.

Jazz Safari National Men's League

Division one

Tornado Bee 186/7 Kutchi Tigers 187/2

(Kutchi Tigers win by 8 wickets)

Strikers 143 Aziz Damani 148/2

(Damani win by 8 wickets)

Division Two

ACC 189 SKLPS 190/8

(SKLPS win by 2 wickects)

Budo 147 Partidar 149/5

(Partidar win by 5 wickets)

Tornado Bee's glory days are certainly a blip in the mirror. Once upon a time they run the league in a one man show manner and at the peak of their powers they had won the title four times in a row.

Last year, new topflight entrants Aziz Damani broke their grip on the title to spell a new beginning in the Jazz Safari National Men's League Division one.

This season, Damani have already sealed their second title in a row, but still Tornado Bee find themselves in a distant fifth position on 31 points on  the log.

Their fall in the pecking order has partly been because of the arrival of the moneyed Aziz Damani and of course the awakening of a giant in Kutchi Tigers. The two teams have recruited well and there has not been so much done by Tornado Bee to counter the two giants.

Challengers and debutants Strikers in third and fourth position have been highly motivated in the campaign.

Rakesh Kahar brutal knock (97 from 98 balls) left him just 3 runs shy of a century in Sunday's 8 wicket win over Tornado Bee at Entebbe Oval.

Deus Muhumuza and Akbar Baig scored 37 and 30 runs respectively when Tornado Bee reached 186 as Kutchi Tigers' man of the match Rakesh Kahar picked 6 wickets.

Meanwhile Aziz Damani having sealed the trophy, are chasing an unbeaten  campaign with just two games remaining  on their cards.
