Crane High, St. Noah win junior NBA titles

It was Crane High’s third consecutive victory following earlier wins in 2016 and 2017.

Next year's Junior NBA competitions will start with Basketball Camps and Coaches clinics in the country to ensure that the game continues to grow and that the kids are learning and being taught the right things by the coaches and teachers.

The competition will also embrace a home and away format to ensure that games are hosted by the schools' and played with ample time to give adequate exposure to the kids.

The Junior NBA FUBA League is a partnership between the NBA and the Federation of Uganda Basketball Association (FUBA). This youth development program uses basketball as the main platform to reach the youth and pass on life skills and basketball skills. This on-going partnership has been in existence since 2015.

This year's final played at Gems Cambridge International School on Saturday saw the Crane High TrailBlazers edge the Watoto Timberwolves 59-57, while in the girls' final, St. Noah girls were 27-14 winners over the Watoto girls.

Watoto trailed in the first and second quarters before taking a seven-point lead going into the last quarter but Crane High's full court press saw them prevailing over their opponents and eventually winning by  two points.

It was Crane High's third consecutive victory following earlier wins in 2016 and 2017.

St Noah's Possible Naluyima and Crane High's Alvin Ayebare each walked away with a fully installed KWESE TV decoder having scooped the MVP awards.

The 2019 Season will kick off in the first term of the 2019 education calendar and run through to the second term and climax in August 2019. This will also enable Uganda send representatives to the Junior NBA World Championship 2019 to be held In Orlando, USA.
