Despite South Africa and Zimbabwe dominating day one of the FIM Africa nations Motocross Championship in Lusaka, Uganda has remained  focused on finishing in the top three.

Ugandan riders are not giving up on their quest for medals at the championship.

Stav Orland won heat one in the 85cc class, while Fortune Ssentamu, Kylan Wekesa, Wazir Omar and Waleed Omar finished sixth, eighth, tenth and fifteenth respectively.

In the 65cc class, Alon Orland finished fourth, while Akaki Obote, Jeremiah Mawanda Akena Obote and Nsubuga Kreidah finished fourth, twelfth, fifteenth and eighteenth respectively.

"It is a good start and we are waiting for day two, otherwise the boys are giving in their best," team manager Diana Karugaba said.

Barak Orland in the veterans category, finished eighth, Aviv Orland and Ali Omar Yasser finished third and sixth respectively in the MX125 class, while team captain Maxime Van pee managed seventh position in the MX1 class.
