Eid Adhuha to be celebrated on Tuesday

Eid Adhuha, an important day in Islam, and is a Public holiday in Uganda.

The Director of Sharia, Uganda Muslim Supreme Council Sheik. Yahaya Ibrahim Kakungulu has announced that Monday 20th August will be the day of Arafat. This means that this year's Eid Adhuha will be celebrated on Tuesday 21st August 2018.

According to statement issued by the UMSC, the national Eid prayers will be held at the National Mosque - UMSC Headquarters Old Kampala starting at 9:00 am. The prayers will be led by the Mufti of Uganda Sheik. Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje.

The statement added that Eid Adhuha Khutubah (Sermon) will be delivered by the second Deputy Mufti Sheik. Muhammad Waiswa.

"The Director of Sharia urges Muslims to slaughter healthy animals for Eid Adhuha in remembrance of Prophet Ibrahim and Ismail (A.S) commitment. He has also called upon Muslims to celebrate Eid festivals in line with Islamic teachings," the statement said.
 
It added: "Due to the large number of Muslims expected for Eid prayers, Muslims are urged to come early and to cooperate with the security personnel. Vehicles will not be allowed inside the National Mosque compound. All vehicles will be parked at Old Kampala Secondary school ground."
