Muhumuza returned 131 gross over two rounds to beat 15 other single handicappers.
Professional golfer Happy Robert and top amateur Adolf Muhumuza got the perfect motivator ahead of the Castle Lite Uganda Open when they topped the Toro Club Centennial Golf tournament played at Toro Club on Saturday.
The in form Muhumuza who is fresh from winning the Africa Zone IV championship with Uganda in Kenya, returned 131 gross over two rounds to beat 15 other single handicappers to the overall trophy.
He opened with a two-under-par 68 before he wrapped up the championship with a massive 7-under-par 63 to beat his closest challenger and fellow national team player David Kamulindwa by two strokes.
Kamulindwa's three and four under par over the 36 holes came short just like Ronald Rugumayo who came third, three strokes behind the winner.
Martha Babirye who is also on the ladies national team preparing for the All Africa Challenge trophy in Ghana later this month was the best in the ladies category with 77 gross beating the likes of Eva Magala, Gloria Mbaguta and Evelyn Asiimwe to the top prize.
"This was my second win at Toro Club, It was a good tournament and the course was in good shape, the challenge was only on the greens. It was also a perfect warm up ahead of the Uganda Golf Club Ladies Open which I'm looking forward to and probably win it," Babirye said.
Toro Club's resident pro Happy Robert topped the professional's category beating Saidi Mawa to the biggest share of sh5m.
