Uganda v Nigeria

KAMPALA - The U19 Cricket Cranes can forget about a sweep of Nigeria as the exciting series of the Nigeria Tour To Uganda ends today at the Lugogo oval.

The hosts are already a proven side but of course not a finished product. Pains from last year's ICC Africa U19 Division One World Cup Qualifier in Kenya where they failed to qualify for the global meet are now a blip in the mirror.

However, they are thinking about next year's similar qualifier that will determine qualification for the 2020 World Cup in South Africa.

A tour of Nigeria is part of preparations for the journey. The boys remain equaled exceptional and motivated.

But, despite having sealed the five game series already, the travelling Nigerians pegged one back when they defeated the hosts by 94 runs Tuesday at the lugogo oval. They were desperate to avoid a sweep and they surely did.

Segun Ogundipe impressed with the bat returning a near half ton of 46 from 25 balls whern the middle order helped move the board to 239 with six balls remaining to complete their allotted overs.

Elijah Olaleye had opened for 31 before he was bowled out by Munir Ismael who took a total of 2 wickets.

The complacebnt Ugandan side  were not their usual best when openers Zephnia Arinaitwe and Simon Oketcho were out for ducks.

Arinaitwe was dismissed on the first ball. Frank Akankwasa and Robinson Obuya were not spared as well.

Cosmas Kyewuta's team best of 25 did not really matter  but in the end the series have shown what they can do at their best.
