International Youth day celebrations

It is now 14 years since hundreds of displaced persons in Lango were massacred in one night by suspected Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) rebels at Barlonyo in Lira.
The International Youth Day is celebrated annually on August 12th consistent with the UN Resolution 54/120 of the 1999 UN General Assembly. This year's theme is: "Safe Spaces for the youth" and the national celebrations were held at Kampiringisa, Mpigi district.
Like it is in other parts of the whole world, the Day provides the opportunity to reflect on the various interventions and programmes that aim at empowering the youths in Uganda and world over.
