Record Champions City Oilers earned two well-deserved victories in the National Basketball League over the weekend against UPDF and Rhino on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
The Oilers started their weekend on a high, defeating the Army boys 85-44 on Saturday evening before opening Sunday’s action by defeating the Rhino 96-64.
While James Okello scored a game high scored 22 points and 17 rebounds, Landry Ndikumana and Jimmy Enabu managed 18 points each. The other scorers were Jjuuko Daniel and Ivan Muhwezi who scored 10 points apiece.
Sharing Youth failed to maintain a winning formula when they slumped to a humiliating 84-59 defeat at the hands of Pemba Warriors less than 24 hours after defeating KCCA 75-70.
The Warriors dominantly won all the four quarters 11-19, 13-22, 18-24 and 17-19 to confirm their return to winning ways.
For the Warriors, the win was their first in four games following consecutive defeats at the hands of Power, KCCA, Oilers and KIU.
Meanwhile, Ndejje piled more misery on Our Savior when they defeated the latter 76-56 in the day’s penultimate piece of action.
The defeat, Savior’s fourth in five games sent David Burkowski’s side into the relegation zone and a point above bottom side, UPDF.
