Nigeria U19 Tour To Uganda

8-15 August

Uganda 286 Nigeria 105

(Uganda win by 181 runs)

KAMPALA - Prior to the Nigeria tourto Uganda, the U19 Cricket Cranes had not been employed internationals since last year.

Their last internationals were during the ICC Africa U19 Division One World Cup Qualifier in Kenya where they painfully and narrowly missed out on qualification.

The boys are on course of moving on from that debacle and certainly their start to the recovery process is not bad at all.

"It is important to banish the pains from last year and I'm happy the boys are not living in the past.

"This is a good opportunity to get back on course as we look at the next ICC Africa U19 Division One World Cup Qualifier" said Michael Ndiko, acting coach.

Nigeria is a team in transition from an average side to a better team and they are using the tour to prepare for a tournament in South Africa.

Frank Akankwasa scored a brutal half century of 86 from 74 balls as the hosts proved dorminant in the 181 runs win over the travelling Nigerians Wednesday at the lugogo oval.

Zephania Arinaitwe had opened for 31 from 25 balls in a free scoring innings although Uganda were all out for 286 courtesy of  Nigeria's seamer Abolarin Rahseed who claimed 4 wickets.

Frank Akankwasa, Richard Agamire and Rogers Olipa claimed two wickets apiece to restrict Nigeria to 105.

The five- day series continue today at the lugogo oval.
