Museveni heads to Nebbi for campaigns

According to George Kermundu, the Nebbi district NRM chairman, the President will address a rally at Nebbi Primary School playground.

 

President Yoweri  Museveni also the NRM party chairman is expected in Nebbi  today to solicit support for NRM flag bearers in the Nebbi Municipality elections.

The NRM party is fighting for the position of the MP and Mayor with the opposition leading party FDC. They have fronted Sulaiman Hashim and Geoffrey Ngiriker for the position of Member of Parliament.

According to George Kermundu, the Nebbi district NRM chairman, the President will address a rally at Nebbi Primary School playground.

His visit comes barely a day after former Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), Dr. Kizza Besigye and the several other party big weights visited the area to drum support for the FDC candidate Robert Onega ahead of the highly contested Nebbi municipality elections.

FDC staged a mammoth rally at Mayor's Gardens on Wednesday, where Besiegye and other opposition leaders addressed hundreds of party supporters.

The elections for Nebbi municipality is aimed at filling the different political positions that have remained vacant in the Municipality since it was created in July, 2016.

The municipality has three divisions of Abindu, Thatha and Central division with a population of 35,029 and 35 polling stations.
