Eboue tips Rita Education Center pupils on education

Former Arsenal and Ivory Coast International Emmanuel Eboue has advised school going children to concentrate on their education first before they can think of playing football.

Eboue who was in the company of former Senegalese, Reading and Portsmouth defender Ibrahima Sonko, Bunga Bet CEO Prosper Muhaise and URA FC communication officer Bridget Nakayenga, was speaking to children of Rita Education Center, Kawaala on Thursday where they had gone to do charity work at the school.

"School is very important in your life and it should be the first thing you should think about, not football because you need to become intelligent first before you can play football. We are making this donation because we want you to stay at school so that you can succeed in life. But is also important to pray to God every day," Eboue advised.

All the children numbering to about 300 in the orphanage had an afternoon to remember as they received scholastic materials that included exercise books, geometry sets, pens and pencils, crayons and soft drinks.

Rita Aliguma, the Bunga Bet spokesperson said since the World Cup began they had made similar donations to different schools in the country and were using Eboue and Sonko to try and inspire the kids by giving them hope that they can also make it in life, since the two were also like most of the children when starting out.

Goretti Nabwato, the head teacher of the school said the school survives on such donations because most of the children were needy and that most of them get their school fees from  Bishop Jacinto Kibuuka who is the main funder of the school.

"We would like to thank Bunga Bet and their entourage for the scholastic materials and sports equipment they have donated. The school has many challenges especially for children who lack scholastic materials and the ministry wants us to register our boarding section but we still lack funds for it," Nabwato said.
