KIGALI - The National Women football team; Crested Cranes, will take on rivals Kenya in their opening game of the CECAFA Women Challenge Cup on July 19 in Rwanda

This comes after the governing body of the competition released fixtures for the five nations contest that will run from July 19 to 27.

The Challenge Cup will be played  in a league format to determine the final champion.

The third edition of the CECAFA Women Championship was supposed to be hosted in May this  year but the organisers  decided it postponed for better preparations.

Hosts Rwanda, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia confirmed their participation for the 2018 tourney.

Tanzania remain the defending champions of the event that was last held in Uganda (2016) at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru.

They beat rivals Kenya 2-1 to win the championship while Crested Cranes finished fourth.
